Launchers and Receivers (Pigtraps)
From early beginnings where we modified ball valves to act as sphere launcher valves we have developed products to encompass all aspects of pig launching and receiving. The purpose of launchers and receivers, also known as pigtraps, is to send and receive a PIG (Pipeline Inspection Gauge) through a pipeline. The function is to de-water, clean or inspect a pipeline. Pigs are also used for product separation in batch operations. The units, also referred to as pigtraps come with dedicated Quick Opening Closures. These closures act as a door to the pipeline and will have integrated safety features to ensure they cannot be opened when a pipeline is pressurised. Pigtaps will be designed to pressure vessel design codes such as ASME VIII, EN13445 or PD5500.
