Intrusive Mechanical Signaller
The mechanical intrusive signaller is normally fitted with a flag which needs to be reset after every pig passage. An auto-reset option is available. It is Intrusive as it has a triggering mechanism that has to be inserted through the pipe wall. This makes it a less attractive option for existing pipelines unless a 2-inch flanged branch fitting is available. The units can be fitted with almost any switch type for remote indication. There are also extractable types available that can be removed from the pipeline while it is under line pressure.
