Non-Intrusive Magnetic Signaller
Magnetic signallers operate by detecting the magnetic field produced by a passing pig. For this purpose, a pig needs to be fitted with ‘rare earth’ magnets preferable ‘NeFeBo’ types. These will generate a strong field that can also be detected through thicker pipe walls. The fitting of magnets is a standard option for pig suppliers and it can be applied to almost any pig type. The signallers are easy to set up and use and offer a very reliable means of pig detection.
