The ‘Screw’ and ‘Diaphragm’ compressor, compression of gas is achieved through positive displacement or with the aid of a flexible membrane respectively. The selection of the type of compressor will be governed by the combination of pressure ratio, temperature, flow and line medium.
In the case of the ‘Diaphragm’ the design allows strict segregation of the process medium making it a very suitable system for use with more corrosive and toxic process gasses such as H2S, Syngas and Hydrogen. The rotary-screw compressor is able to produce larger volumes. In the case where lubrication oil carry-over can cause problems, an oil-free type can also be provided.
